Sonic vs. Rattler Is The Battle We Deserve

Jan 24, 2020 | Articles, DGU

Discraft Elite Team member Brian Earhart is a noted Rattler enthusiast.

The lefty has talked-up the super slow, thin-rimmed putter in the past, and the release of an ESP plastic version has only increased his excitement for the lid.

While Earhart has promoted the Rattler, Innova Star Team’s Garrett Gurthie is a long-time Sonic thrower. The Sonic, for those uninitiated, is similar to the Rattler in that it is an unconventional putt and approach disc for a high-level pro to be tossing around on the course. Gurthie’s prowess, however, sparked renewed interest in the ribbed disc and a special Star plastic edition was molded for him.

Earhart put two-and-two together and decided what better way to showcase the quirkier side of the sport by challenging Gurthie to an 18-hole one disc battle, Rattler vs. Sonic.

This is the best idea ever.

Gurthie responded in kind, and now we wait for one of the video crews to coordinate the showdown once the tour gets rolling.
